My name is Bruce Roper and I have been repairing and building guitars for about 35 years. I owned my own retail guitar store for 10 years, and have for the last 30 years been doing all the string instrument repair for the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, a venerable organization known nationally with over 6000 students a week in all the folk arts.

In my one man shop I average between 350 and 450 repairs a year… add to that, I try to build a few guitars each year. I started teaching guitar building in 2001.

I have also been playing the guitar and singing professionally with a small national touring folk trio called “Sons Of The Never Wrong“.   Sons have been together for 28 years and have recorded 12 critically acclaimed CD.

Here’s a song, 1000 Years, from our new CD Sons of Sons that has an octave mandolin and a guitar I built playing in it.
