Following Benedetto's idea of building from lumber yard woods, I thought I'd build my first archtop of something inexpensive on which to learn. The top of this guitar is carved from a plain piece of pine (not book matched) from Menards with a flat back of bubinga. It sounds great, very much of the wood, not just a thin stringy sound. Note the "bug in a bottle" headstock inlay. Also this guitar has an access panel on the butt end allowing me to put an active undersaddle Fishman in the bridge and allowed me to bolt the neck on!
